CHANGE IN NINDS POLICY FOR DIRECT COSTS ON PROGRAM PROJECT (P01) AND CLINICAL RESEARCH CENTER (P50) GRANT APPLICATIONS Release Date: June 7, 1999 National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) is increasing the direct cost limit on Program Project (P01) and Clinical Research Center (P50) grant applications to $1.0 million in any year. However, indirect costs of consortium institutions which are included in the applicant institution's direct costs are excluded in meeting the $1.0 million limitation. This policy change is effective with competing applications submitted for the June 1, 1999 receipt date. Applicants must also follow the NIH policy on "Acceptance for Review of Unsolicited Applications that Request More than $500,000 Direct Costs" as published in the NIH Guide, March 20, 1998.
