CONTINUATION OF INSTITUTIONAL NATIONAL RESEARCH SERVICE AWARD IN SLEEP RESEARCH Release Date: August 25, 1998 PA NUMBER: PA-97-064 P.T. National Institutes of Health Application Receipt Date: January 10, May 10 The National Institutes of Health (NIH) will continue to support the Institutional National Research Service Award in Sleep Research (PA-97-064) which solicits training grants to develop or enhance sleep research training opportunities for individuals selected by eligible institutions. The original Program Announcement (PA), which solicited applications for National Research Service Award (NRSA) Institutional Training Grants (T32), appeared in the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts, Vol. 26, No. 20, June 13, 1997, and indicated this PA would be active through the end of fiscal year 2000. This Notice is to highlight the continued interest in receiving applications for PA-97-064. Its objective is to ensure that scientists, highly trained in sleep research, are available in adequate numbers to address important gaps in our biomedical and biological understanding of sleep including those outlined in the NIH Director's Sleep Disorders Research Plan (gopher://fido.nhlbi.nih.gov:70/11/nhlbi/health/sleep/rschplan). The National Center on Sleep Disorders Research (NCSDR) will serve as a primary contact for applicants for this PA, and will work closely with relevant NIH Institutes to support the training opportunities identified in this program announcement. Potential applicants are strongly urged to contact the NCSDR before preparing an application. Information on stipend increases, effective with all NRSA awards made on or after October 1, 1997, are available in the January 9, 1998, issue of the NIH Guide (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/not98-001.html).
