National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) is soliciting
proposals from qualified organizations to provide veterinary care, brain
biopsy/autopsy support, technical support, treatment, and housing of a research
animal colony of approximately 260 nonhuman primates and 4 horses. Included in
the nonhuman primates are 84 chimpanzees, 20 Old World monkeys, and 152 New World
monkeys. In addition, to the above, the NINDS is looking to continue the
maintenance of a specific pathogen free rhesus monkey breeding colony. Specific
pathogen-free (SPF) rhesus monkeys must be developed and maintained in order to
provide an animal that does not harbor viruses which may confound human
retroviral research (HIV, HTLV-1, EIA, etc.) This breeding colony must be able
to provide approximately 10 young adult monkeys (4-5 years old) annually to NINDS
scientist. It is anticipated that one cost reimbursement, level-of-effort type
contract will be awarded for a period of five years.

Request for Proposals (RFP) NIH-NINDS-98-10 will be available electronically on
or about June 1, and may be accessed through the World Wide Web at the following
URL: http://www.ninds.nih.gov/about_ninds/clusters/contracts_management_branch.htm/.
All information required for the submission
of an offer will be contained in the electronic RFP package.

Response to the RFP will be due on or about July 15, 1998. Any responsible
offeror may submit a proposal that will be considered by the Government. This
advertisement does not commit the Government to award a contract.
