U.S.-EGYPT BIOTECHNOLOGY PROJECTS NIH GUIDE, Volume 26, Number 37, November 7, 1997 P.T. Fogarty International Center A Joint Fund of $2 million per year has been established for S&T cooperation with Egypt under the Gore-Mubarak Joint Economic Partnership. In 1996 the U.S.-Egypt Joint Board, which oversees the fund, chose biotechnology as one of four priority areas for support. The Board has now established a program of small ($50,000) grants to support the add-on costs of collaboration between active U.S. and Egyptian laboratories. U.S. participants may be Intramural or Extramural scientists, or from the private sector. A Request for Applications (RFA) is available from the Fogarty International Center (FIC). Each application should identify two principal investigators (one American and one Egyptian). The deadline is December 1, 1997.
