This document describes the Blood Specimen Repository maintained by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. The Repository, first begun in 1974, stores plasma, serum, and cellular materials collected during prospective and clinical studies supported by the Institute. The document describes the purpose of each study and provides references related to study outcomes as well as the process to be used to request panels of samples for study. This Notice and the availability of the document is intended to facilitate use of Repository samples in scientific studies.
