The following changes are made to the Enhancement Awards for

Underrepresented Minority Researchers in HIV/AIDS RFA, which was

published in the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts, Vol. 23, No. 34,

September 23, 1994.



1.  Application Receipt Date is changed from February 21, 1995 to

March 15, 1995.



2.  See SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS - The PI's institution will have the

following responsibilities - 1.  To authorize a minimum of 75 percent

release time."



This responsibility is further clarified as follows:



The PI will limit non-research related activities (such as and

including teaching and administrative duties) to 25 percent of

his/her total effort.  Percent effort of research under this award

may range from 50 to 100 percent.  Up to 25 percent additional

research effort(s) supported outside of this award is allowed.



Failure to implement the agreed amount of release time may result in

termination of the award.  Applicants should include a letter from

the responsible institutional official certifying that the PI will be

responsible for only 25 percent of effort devoted to non-research

related activity.



3.  In making awards, the NIAID will give priority to projects

involving ethnic or racial group members who have been found to be

underrepresented in biomedical or behavioral research nationally,

primarily Black, Hispanic, Native American and Pacific Island group

members.
