Recognizing the need to develop more effective behavioral treatments for patients with multiple chronic health conditions, the Trans-NIH Integrated Health Strategies Working Group held a workshop at the NIH campus in April 2010 to identify research priorities and gaps. This meeting highlighted the need for more effective research methods and measures for conceptualizing, triaging and assessing the health behavior (e.g., adherence, mental health problems, diet and exercise, substance use/abuse disorders) of patients with multiple chronic health conditions.
The purpose of this Notice is to draw attention to an existing NIH funding opportunity announcement (FOA) that investigators might use to obtain support for this research. More specifically, researchers are encouraged to utilize program announcement PAR-08-212 [Methodology and Measurement in the Behavioral and Social Sciences (R01)].
