Have you been looking for a comprehensive program that provides valuable information about the NIH grants process, including such topics as peer review, grant writing for success, pre-award and post-award issues for administrators and investigators, compliance, and how to interact electronically with NIH? What about an opportunity to meet and discuss grants issues with approximately 25 HHS and NIH officials, as well as networking with others in your field? If so, make plans to attend a 2010 NIH Regional Seminar on Program Funding and Grants Administration in either Philadelphia, PA or Portland, OR.

In conjunction with the 2 seminars scheduled each year around the country, optional NIH Electronic Research Administration (eRA) computer workshops are also offered. These workshops are designed for Principal Investigators and administrators, providing attendees with hands-on experience utilizing the eRA Commons.

Anyone interested in the NIH grants process should consider attending, including Sponsored Project Office and departmental administrators, new and early stage investigators, graduate students, and post docs.

April 14-16, 2010 – Philadelphia, PA – Optional eRA Hands-On Computer Workshops will be offered on Wednesday, April 14, 2010. Early registration fees will be $150 per workshop. The 2-day seminar is Thursday, April 15 & Friday, April 16, 2010. Registration fees for the seminar are $400 which includes two continental breakfasts and two buffet lunches (fee based on early registration). Co-ambassadors for this seminar are the University of Pennsylvania and Thomas Jefferson University. Note: Registration to open by mid-December, 2009.

June 23-25, 2010 – Portland, OR – Optional eRA Hands-On Computer Workshops will be offered on Wednesday, June 23, 2010. Early registration fees will be $150 per workshop. The 2-day seminar is Thursday, June 24 & Friday, June 25, 2010. Registration fees for the seminar are $400 which includes two continental breakfasts and two buffet lunches (fee based on early registration). This seminar is co-hosted by the Oregon Health & Science University. Note: Registration to open by mid-January, 2010.

These seminars provide an unparalleled opportunity for participants to gain a better perspective of NIH policies and programs, network with their peers, gather helpful NIH contacts, and to return to their offices and/or labs with inside information, resources, and tools to assist in obtaining and managing NIH awards.

Since these seminars are only provided twice a year around the country, they traditionally reach capacity prior to the event - so once registration is open, please do so early.
