Delays in Grant Application Submission Due to Earthquake in Hawaii

Notice Number: NOT-OD-07-010

Key Dates
Release Date: October 18, 2006

Issued by
National Institutes of Health (NIH), (http://www.nih.gov)

The NIH realizes that there will be problems for organizations in Hawaii in submitting grant applications due to the recent earthquake.  The usual NIH practice for such extraordinary circumstances will apply.  Paper and electronic applications that are submitted late because of the earthquake should include a cover letter noting the reasons for the delay.  It is not necessary to get permission in advance for earthquake-related delays in grant application submissions. It is expected that the delay will generally not exceed the time period that an institution is closed.
