National Institutes of Health

A regional seminar covering topics related to the National 
Institutes of Health extramural program funding and grants 
administration has been scheduled for Thursday and Friday, July 13 
and 14, 2000 in Ithaca, New York.  

The NIH regional seminars provide participants with an opportunity 
to learn about NIH policies and procedures through a series of 
presentations targeted to new and senior researchers, research 
administrators, post docs and trainees.  The seminars also allow 
participants to meet, mingle and get answers from NIH program, 
grants management, policy and review staff, as well as from some of 
their own institutional officials.     

The seminar, hosted by Cornell University, will feature both plenary 
and break-out sessions to accommodate all interests.  Plenary 
session will be held on Scientific Peer Review, Research Integrity, 
and Electronic Research Administration.  Break-out sessions will 
include: Funding Opportunities for New Investigators, Modular 
Grants, Research Administration for Faculty, Intellectual Property, 
Clinical Trials, Compliance Issues, Project Monitoring, NIH 
Fundamentals, NIH Contracts Management, Small Business Innovation 
Research (SBIR), Development of Institute and Center Program 
Priorities, Specific IC Program Initiatives, Human Subjects, Animal 
Welfare, and a Mock Study Section Review.

REGISTRATION:
The deadline for registration is July 3, 2000.  Registration fee for 
the two day seminar, including breakfast and lunch on both days, is

It is anticipated that two NIH Regional Seminars will be held in the 
spring/summer in 2001 in Texas and Oregon.  Details on those
