Release Date: June 20, 2006

National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) (http://www.ninds.nih.gov/)

Purpose

The NINDS Cooperative Program in Translational Research (http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PAR-05-158.html) provides three cooperative agreement mechanisms (U01, U54, and U24) to support the preclinical development of therapeutics for neurological disorders. As part of the role of NINDS program staff in these cooperative agreements, NINDS provides an opportunity for potential applicants to consult with NINDS staff prior to preparing an application under the program. The pre-application consultation includes an introductory call to discuss the scope and goals of the program and a conference call with NINDS staff.

Pre-application consultation on translational research cooperative agreements must be done with adequate lead time before an application receipt date in order for applicants to have sufficient time to consider advice and perspective from NINDS program staff. For this reason, an introductory call must be completed at least 8 weeks before a receipt date and a conference call at least 6 weeks before a receipt date.
