Purpose

This Notice informs potential applicants responding to NOT-MH-11-014 - Notice of Availability of Administrative Supplements to Enable Continuity of Research Experiences of M.D./Ph.D.s During Clinical Training, that NIMH has modified the eligibility criteria for candidates for this supplement program effective as of the date of this Notice.

Item 2 of the following eligibility criteria has been changed, and an additional criterion (item 5) has been added.

Candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria at the time of application: 1) must be a citizen or a non-citizen national of the United States or have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence; 2) must have graduated from a combined M.D./Ph.D. program or must have graduated from independent M.D. and Ph.D. programs (in either order of completion) with time between the awarding of the two degrees not to exceed 10 years; 3) must currently be in good standing in an ACGME-accredited residency program or clinical fellowship program; 4) must be able to commit appropriate effort to the proposed research experience in any year; and 5) must not currently have support to obtain research experience from either federal or non-federal funds.

Candidates during residency must commit no less than 1.8 person-months (15% of full-time professional effort) to the proposed research experience; at the time of award, such candidates must be in PGY2 of residency or beyond.  Candidates during fellowship must commit no less than 6 person-months (50% of full-time professional effort) to the proposed research experience.

All other aspects of NOT-MH-11-014 remain unchanged.
