Notice of Change in Receipt Date for RFA-MH-08-040, Methods of Statistical Analysis of DNA Sequence Data for Studies Relating Variation to Disease (R01)

Notice Number: NOT-MH-07-120

Key Dates
Release Date: September 14, 2007

Issued by
National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), (http://www.nimh.nih.gov/) on behalf of the NIH and as a part of the NIH-wide Genes, Environment, and Health Initiative (GEI).

The purpose of this notice is to inform the research community of a change in the receipt date for the RFA MH-08-040 "Methods of Statistical Analysis of DNA Sequence Data for Studies Relating Variation to Disease (R01)" (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-MH-08-040.html). The new date is January  8, 2008.  The new receipt date will be effective upon publication of this Notice.

As a clarification, the focus of the RFA remains on the study design and statistical analysis of sequence data for sequencing studies that follow up genome-wide association (GWA) genotyping studies, or, as sequencing displaces GWA genotyping in the future, are the GWA study.  For example, prioritizing variants based on LD patterns or frequency distributions in the sequencing study is responsive, while prioritizing variants based mainly on between-species sequence conservation or functional information external to the sequencing study is not.

As data that may be used in preliminary analyses or proposed studies, DNA sequence data from the HapMap ENCODE projects are available from the Trace Archive.  Applicants are welcome to propose using their own or other data sets including simulated data.

Although the NIMH is administratively overseeing this RFA, it is part of the Genes, Environment, and Health Initiative (GEI), which is an NIH-wide program.  Thus studies may relate to any disease or condition.
