COMPETITIVE SUPPLEMENTS TO STUDY ISSUES RELATED TO PATIENT SAFETY - EXTENSION Release Date: February 13, 2001 NOTICE: NOT-HS-01-007 Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (formerly AHCPR) The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) is extending the deadline to March 1, 2001 for submission of competitive supplements to existing Centers for Education and Research on Therapeutics (CERTs) to study patient safety. This notice accompanies the announcement for competitive supplements published January 10, 2001, Notice NOT-HS-01-005 (http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-HS-01-005.html). AHRQ recognizes that the mission of the CERTs is consistent with the patient safety agenda and therefore proposes to provide additional funding to enhance the work of the CERTs in this area. AHRQ will consider requests from current grantees to develop supplemental research projects consistent with the original scope of the individual CERT and allowing the Centers to supplement their existing patient safety agendas. Grantees are encouraged to refer to To Err is Human: Building a Safer Health System and the report from the Quality Interagency Committee (QuIC) at http://www.ahrq.gov/qual/errorsix.htm and to the scope of the original research proposal and adherence to criteria set forth in the original CERTs RFA at http://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/rfa-files/RFA-HS-99-004.html.
