RFA HL-02-012, NHLBI RESEARCH SCIENTIST AWARD FOR MINORITY INSTITUTIONS

The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) invites amended 
cooperative agreement grant applications from minority institutions that had 
previously submitted an application in response to RFA HL-02-012, but did not 
receive grant support under this RFA program.  All requirements and guidelines 
as outlined in the original RFA are applicable.  The original RFA can be found 
at the following URL:

Applications that are complete and responsive to the RFA will be evaluated for 
scientific and technical merit by an appropriate peer review group convened by 
the NHLBI in accordance with the review criteria stated in the RFA.  Following 
the review of applications, the decision regarding awards will be based on 
scientific merit (as determined by peer review), availability of funds, and 
programmatic priorities. As originally outlined, applicants may request a 
project period of up to seven years and a budget for direct costs of up to 
$50,000 per year for Phase I (first two years) and for direct costs of up to 
$500,000 per year for Phase II (up to five additional years).

SENDING AN APPLICATION TO THE NIH: 

Applications must be prepared using the PHS 398 research grant application 
instructions and forms (rev. 5/2001). Applications must have a DUN and 
Bradstreet (D&B) Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number as the Universal 
Identifier when applying for Federal grants or cooperative agreements. The DUNS 
number can be obtained by calling (866) 705-5711 or through the web site at 
http://www.dunandbradstreet.com/. The DUNS number should 
be entered on line 11 of the face page of the PHS 398 form. The PHS 398 document 
is available at https://grants.nih.gov/grants/funding/phs398/phs398.html

Only amended applications which were previously submitted as part of 
RFA HL-02-012 will be considered.  Item 2 on the Face Page should be checked 
"Yes"; after "Number:" enter "NOT-HL-03-015" and after "Title:" enter "Amended 
Applications in Response to RFA HL-02-012".

Submit a signed, typewritten original of the application, including the 
Checklist, and three signed, photocopies, in one package to:
