PUBLIC BRIEFING MEETING FOR POTENTIAL APPLICANTS TO RFA-HL-01-015, COMPREHENSIVE SICKLE CELL CENTERS Release Date: November 6, 2000 (Revised November 17, 2000) NOTICE: HL-01-004 National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov) The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute will hold a pre-application information forum for investigators planning to submit applications in response to RFA-HL-01-015, "Comprehensive Sickle Cell Centers." This meeting will provide prospective applicants with an opportunity to receive answers to their questions about the intent and requirements of the RFA. NHLBI staff will be available to discuss all aspects of the proposed new program, including the cooperative agreement mechanism; the roles of the Steering Committee and the Data Safety and Monitoring Committee; the expected interactions among funded Centers, between Centers and the Statistics and Data Management Center, and the role of NHLBI program staff; development of the application; and other appropriate questions. When available the complete text of the RFA "Comprehensive Sickle Cell Centers" will be published in the NIH Guide. Potential applicants to the RFA are strongly urged to attend this Information Forum. A list of questions asked during the Forum and a written summary of the responses from NHLBI staff will be posted following the meeting at http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/meetings/index.htm. This meeting is open to the public. To facilitate planning, investigators should register to attend the meeting at least one week in advance of the Forum.
