The purpose of this Notice is to inform potential applicants of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD)'s participation, effective immediately, in PA-14-030 "Chronic Illness Self-Management in Children and Adolescents (R21)".

For this FOA, specific areas of research interest to NICHD in addition to those listed in the FOA include:

  • Studies on developmental, biobehavioral, neurocognitive, and psychosocial issues of adherence, decision making, self-regulation, and self-management that involve children and adolescents with chronic disease and their family members, peers, and individuals in their broader environment (e.g. schools, neighborhoods, community);
  • Technical aspects of monitoring and improving adherence; and intervention development, implementation, evaluation, and translation to enhance disease self-management.
