The MORE Division of NIGMS will conduct a Technical Assistance Workshop for Bridges to Doctorate Program Directors, potential Program Directors, and others who have an interest in and intend to submit a new, revised or renewal application for the Bridges to the Doctorate program. A new Funding Opportunity Announcement for the Bridges to the Doctorate program was released in the Fall of 2007 (http://grants1.nih.gov/grants/guide/pa-files/PAR-07-410.html); and thus, the workshop’s purpose is to inform applicants of changes and to offer guidance about the new program prior to the next submission dates of September 18, 2009 and January 20, 2010. The workshop is scheduled for Monday, April 27, 2009 from 8:30 am-4:30 pm in the Natcher Building (Bldg. 45), Conference Room F1/F2 on the NIH campus in Bethesda, MD. Attendees are strongly encouraged to review the new Bridges to the Doctorate Funding Opportunity before attending the Technical Assistance Workshop and to bring in for discussion an outline of the proposed Bridges to the Doctorate program and a set of specific aims based on the new announcement.

In order to participate in the workshop, teams of at least two individuals from each invited institution are required. These teams should consist of the prospective Program Director and an institutional official at the level of Dean or higher from the applicant institution. In addition, the team could include one to three potential program coordinators from the partner institutions, if the applicant institution believes that their participation in the workshop is critical to the success of the program.
Arrangements for travel and subsistence are the responsibility of attendees. Funds from active NIH grants, including Bridges, cannot be used to defray the cost of travel and subsistence.
