The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) supports 
predoctoral and postdoctoral research training in the biomedical 
sciences under the auspices of the Ruth L. Kirschstein National 
Research Service Awards (NRSA) Act.  This notice directs applicants to 
the updated NIGMS guidelines for the NRSA mechanisms posted on the 
NIGMS website: http://www.nigms.nih.gov/funding/trngmech.html.  The 
information in the updated guidelines replaces the information provided 
in the NIGMS GUIDELINES NATIONAL RESEARCH SERVICE AWARDS published as 
Notice 97-033 in the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts on February 7, 
1997.  

This information applies to applications for NIGMS NRSA mechanisms and 
supplements the NIH Guidelines for NRSA awards as described on the NIH 
Research Training website 
(https://grants.nih.gov/training/nrsa.htm#inst).  

Prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to contact appropriate 
program staff listed on the website before submitting an application.
