The purpose of this Notice is to inform the environmental health sciences extramural community about new policies regarding program project (P01) applications submitted to and funded by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS). The current guidelines are available at http://www.niehs.nih.gov/dert/programs/p01.htm and this announcement is an update to the guidelines.
Effectively immediately, NIEHS will not accept applications for new P01 grants (Type 1). This moratorium will be effective until further notice, but will extend through Fiscal Year 2008. At that time, NIEHS will review the budget situation and may reconsider this decision. NIEHS will only accept the resubmission of previously reviewed new applications (Type 1, A1) and competing renewal applications (Type 2 and Type 2, A1) from current P01 awardees, for applications requesting more than $500,000.
NIEHS will accept P01 applications only on the September 25 receipt date for review.
In addition to the contact below, potential applicants or principal investigators of current P01s should discuss their plans with the relevant program administrator, who can be identified at http://www.niehs.nih.gov/dert/pasci.htm.
