Purpose

FOA PAR-10-153 is changed as follows:

  1. Two funding caps are mentioned several times in the FOA.  The first is the $700,000 cap for annual direct costs excluding equipment.  The second is the $500,000 cap for direct costs for equipment for the duration of the project. Both funding caps are no longer applicable for this FOA.  There is no budget cap for this FOA.
  2. Applicants requesting $500,000 (direct costs) or more in any year must follow the below instructions.

6. Other Submission Requirements

Specific Instructions for Applications Requesting $500,000 (direct costs) or More per Year

Applicants requesting $500,000 or more in direct costs for any year (excluding consortium F&A costs) must carry out the following steps:

  1. Contact the NIBIB program staff at least 6 weeks before submitting the application, i.e., as plans are being developed for the study;
  2. Obtain agreement from the NIBIB staff  that the NIBIB will accept the application (and the requested budget) for consideration for award;  and,
  3. Include with the application a cover letter from the NIBIB agreeing to accept assignment of the application and agreeing to accept the requested budget.   

This policy applies to all new, renewal revision and resubmission applications.  See NOT-OD-02-004.
All other aspects of the FOA remain unchanged.
