On February 22, 2001, NOT-DK-01-005: "NIDDK Announces New Policy on Receipt Dates for Program Project (P01) Grant Applications and Restatement of Policy for the Funding of Large Grants”, was published in the NIH guide.

That notice restricted new competing  (Type 1) and competing continuation (Type 2) P01 grant applications to two receipt dates per year, June 1 and October 1 (receipt dates for amended applications were not affected).

NIDDK has decided to change that policy and now announces that new applications, resubmissions (previously termed amended or revised applications), and renewal (competing continuation) program project applications will be accepted for ALL receipt dates, currently January 25, May 25, and September 25 (see NOT-OD-07-001 for complete table of NIH receipt dates).
