QUANTITATION OF DRUGS OF ABUSE BY GC/MS

National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) is soliciting proposals 
from qualified organizations having capability to perform quantitative 
analysis of cannabinoids, cocaine and metabolites, opiates, l-alpha-
acetylmethadol, phencyclidine, LSD and other drugs of abuse in 
biological fluids (blood, saliva, plasma, urine) and tissues by means 
of gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS).  The analyses must be 
specific and sensitive as required for pharmacokinetic studies 
(generally in the low ng/ml range).  The offeror must possess the 
necessary laboratory space, instrumentation, and experience in assays 
of cannabinoids and other drugs of abuse to carry out these tasks. To 
handle test substances under the controlled Substances Act of 1970, 
offerors must possess a DEA Research Registration for Schedules II to 
V.  NIDA may also require a Schedule I DEA Research Registration.   It 
is estimated that a 5 year incrementally funded cost-reimbursement type 
(completion) contract will be awarded.  RFP No. N01DA-4-7737 will be

Please note that the RFP for this acquisition will be streamlined to 
include only the work statement, Deliverables and Reporting 
Requirements, Special Requirements and Mandatory Qualifications, 
Technical criteria, and other necessary Proposal Preparation 
Instructions.  All information required for the submission of an offer 
will be contained in or accessible through the electronic RFP package.  
Responses to the RFP will be due on or about July 21, 2003.  This
