Purpose

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) announces the orderly phase-out and termination of its participation in the NIH Method to Extend Research in Time (MERIT) Award (R37) Program.

There are no changes for current NCI MERIT (R37) awardees. All non-competing commitments for future year support made to current NCI MERIT (R37) awardees will continue to be honored as indicated on the applicable current Notice of Award.

Effective immediately, no new nominations for NCI MERIT (R37) awards will be made. In addition, NCI MERIT (R37) extensions will not be considered.
