Purpose

The purpose of this Notice is to inform potential applicants that the National Cancer Institute (NCI) is participating in PA-13-360, entitled "Nutrition and Alcohol-Related Health Outcomes (R03)."

Examples of research studies that would be of interest to the NCI include, but are not necessarily limited to, those designed and conducted to:

identify and characterize gene (or epigene)-environment (diet and alcohol) interactions that influence risk for cancer in humans;
determine the role(s) of nutrition-alcohol interactions in the fetal origins of chronic disease, including cancer;
identify drinking and eating patterns that interact to influence cancer risk;
explore the relationship(s) between alcohol consumption, gene regulation (such as microRNA expression and/or epigenetic modulation), and cancer risk;
