No. 93.855, Immunology, Allergy, and Transplantation Research

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) will be
issuing an Request for Applications (RFA) to support a clinical studies
program on immune-mediated pathologic processes in organ transplantation. The
purpose of this RFA will be to support a cooperative, multi-site consortium
for clinical trials and/or observational studies to improve our understanding
of and ultimately reduce the immune-mediated morbidity and mortality of organ
transplantation. These studies will be carried out in pediatric and adult
recipients of whole organ or tissue transplants.

A draft of the RFA has been prepared for public comment. The draft can be
found at: http://www.niaid.nih.gov/research/Clinical-trials-in-organ-
transplantation-public-comment.rtf). NIAID invites institutions,
organizations, and individuals to comment on the draft so that the final RFA
can reflect issues of import to the community. Comments must be received no
later than August 11, 2003. NIAID will consider all comments and make changes
to the RFA where warranted.
